But ultimately whether you’re with your kids or clients, you are pretty much ‘on’ the entire time.

So finding Work Life Balance for me was not so much about finding the balance between the two, but finding the balance within, no matter what I was doing or who I was doing it with. Now I haven’t always been great at mastering the art of inner zen, but I’ve found with practise, it really has had a profound impact on the health and happiness of me and everyone around me (kids, clients, and community!)

So I were going to say there were five secret ingredients to creating true Work Life balance, they would be:

I remember when I was growing up, whenever my mum and I would eat out, she would always say, ‘you’re so direct about asking the waiter for what you want. Even if it’s not on the menu, you still ask for it. I could never be like that’. ‘Yes you can mum’, I would reply. ‘Why can’t we have what we want!’

I like to think of ordering whatever I’d love in life, just like I would order my favourite food that is on or off the menu. When thinking about what you’d most love to savour in your life, one of the best ways to approach it is to believe you can have it. It’s interesting though; many of us box ourselves in when dreaming on our dreams and goals. We talk ourselves in to thinking we can only have what’s on the menu, whatever other people tell us we can have. Guess what, you can have whatever your heart and tastebuds desire!

And the icing on the cake… is that when you really focus on what your heart and tastebuds desire and order that, before you know it, it gets served up to you.

Here’s a simple and fun way to plan your own Life Menu of dreams & goals for the year ahead.
